Joan Weaver
Bored after a few years of retirement, Joan Weaver’s husband suggested a trip to Bell Wooodturner’s Demo Day in Bell Fl.   After watching for a few hours, she was hooked and has been turning for 3 years with an interest in turning smaller and ornate items such as boxes and bird houses. She is a member of Bell  Woodturners Club and American Association  of Woodworkers.

I started turning about 20 years ago. I prefer to turn the simple open bowl form. Many of the woods I turn have unusual character or flaws. Occasionally I’ll add color, texture, wood burning,  or crack filler to add interest to a piece. The deep bowl gouge is my favorite tool. Over the years I have turned spindles. I do not however consider myself a SKEW master. For me turning is like Christmas, sometimes I get beauty, sometimes I get worms. LOL

Larry Weaver turned his first bowl in high school and returned to the lathe at retirement. He  has spent three years turning and bowls still dominate his work. Enjoys woodturning demos and symposiums, and teaching newbees what he learned the hard way (trial and error).
