Empty Bowls: April 27, 2017

I hope you’ll join me and Jack in donating some of your work to the fundraiser event for Empty Bowls.  Proceeds from the event go to support the Bread of the Mighty Food Bank which is based in Gainesville, which provides groceries to families in need in 5 counties in our area.  Food insecurity is real and it may be impacting your neighbors or the children in your town.

I will be collecting any bowl donations that you have at our next meeting on April 13.  I will deliver the bowls to the Food Bank on April 14.

In the past, our wooden bowl donations helped to generate thousands of dollars for the Food Bank.  Our club has donated more bowls than many larger clubs in the AAW because of your generous gifts of craftsmanship.

I do request that you donate only bowls since that is the theme of the fundraiser.  If you are donating bowls that may have had a useful life on display or stashed in the top of a shelf in your workshop, give it a good dusting and polish if it’s a little dull before donating it.  When you make it more appealing, it helps the Food Bank raise more money with pretty bowls that look good.

The fundraiser event is scheduled for Thursday, April 27, 5:30pm at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Gainesville and everyone is welcome to attend.

You can get more details about the event and purchase tickets or make cash donations on their website here:

Please remember to make bowls and look on your shelves for any bowls that would be suitable to donate.
